Aside from the myriads of attractionsand beauties of the Exposition as a whole,the visitor will find so much of intense JAMESTOWN EXPOSITION. r^. historical interest in the immediate vicinitythat he will wish to spend much time intheir investigation and study. For instance,he will wish to visit old Jamestown, whichis about thirty miles up the James Riverfrom the Exposition grounds and easilyreached by steamer; Yorktown, the sceneof the surrender of Cornwallis ; Williams-burg, the old Colonial capital; Cape Henryand Virginia Beach, on the Atlantic Ocean;Ocean View, on Hampton Roads: NewportNews, Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, OldPoint Comfort and Fortress Monroe, all sonear as to be within easy reach of Exposi-tion visitors, and all full of deep interest inhistory and natural beauty. On the 19th day of December, threehundred years ago, there set sail fromBlackwall, England, under the commandof Captain Newport, three vessels — the Godspeed, the Susan Constant andthe Discovery — the largest not exceed-ing 100 tons burden. This little fleet andits 105 passengers was destined to mark thebeginning of the
