The Burton store at 16-18 High Street, showing the carved logo, polished dark stone facade, and chain of merit transom lights. The Burton store in Abergavenny was built in 1937, and a foundation stone was laid by Raymond Montague Burton in that year. The store was designed by their in-house architect Nathaniel Martin. It features common Burton motifs including the logo carved in relief in stone, the 'chain of merit' transom lights at the top of the shopfront windows, and the fascia of polished dark stone.
