The defluvium capillorum is to be explained as the resultof inflammation of the matrix cells. Freund, who deserves the credit of suggesting the ray inringworm, has had good results, as have also a number ofothers, including his associate Schiff, Sokolow, Kienbock,Torok, Grouven and Lion, Oudin, Barthelemy, and morerecently Sabouraud, whose experience extends to over onehundred cases.
