Bill nearly as long as the head, very deep, and nar- row, its upper outline nearly straight as far as the cur- vature of the tip, the edge of the upper mandible with a slight festoon; nostrils oblong, oblique; tarsi short, round- ed, bare for two thirds, with about seven large scutella or broad scales; claws large, flattish, and narrow be- neath.
