Blood sugar measurement being performed by a diabetic. The machine (a glucometer) analyses the blood sugar (glucose) level from a drop of blood. In this case, the reading is millimoles per litre of blood (mmol/L). Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which unused sugars (such as glucose) accumulate in the blood and urine.
