Although data points shown in Figure 4 represent an average weight for 50 oysters from one chamber, these 50 were weighed as a pooled group; the small size and large numbers of the oysters rendered weighing individuals impractical. Over six weeks, calculated differences between mean weekly growth rates of oysters fed Xi, E, or N/P cultures were not significant {a = ) with the exception of T. maculata in which Xi > N/P.
