Workers of B. mixtus were significantly smaller than those of B. melanopygus and B. sylvicola, and showed a significantly greater dependence on temperature for foraging activity. Although nectar production by Yellow Hedysa- rum was variable, the average concentration of sugar and quantity were generally high (Table 1), and there was no indication that nectar resources were limiting for the bumble bees at that time of the season. However, sugar concentration was strongly influenced by ambient humidity, which in turn depended upon temperature. This resulted in a positive correlation between concentration and temperature. The foraging activity of B. mixtus workers was correlated with neither sugar concentration nor.
