Cancer constellation, artwork. Cancer, or the Crab, is the faintest constellation of the zodiac. It lies between the bright stars Castor, Pollux and Regulus. In Greek mythology, it is the crab Karkinos, a crab sent to distract Hercules during one of his twelve labours. Image taken from 'Atlas Celeste de Flamsteed', the atlas of French astronomer Jean Fortin (1750-1831), which was published in 1776.
