Portrait front view of woman in her 60s sixties. 3/4 body view.

The body changes as we grow older. Tissues atrophy and the thymus normally shrinks which affects the immune system. Cellular tissue diminishes and is replaced by fatty or connective tissue especially the marrow and skin. About 4000 genes actively instruct the bodies normal function. With aging the number of cells expressing genes in an organ can taper off and numerous different problems can arise.
