The equipmenthas recently been in-creased by the installa-tion of a 750-hp direct-connected unit, shown inFig. 2. The engine (seeFig. 3) is of the Rey-nolds-Corliss cross-com-pound type, with extraheavy bed plates, and isof the latest model builtby the E. P. Allis Com-pany for heavy railwaywork. No. 24. switchboard shown in Fig. i, is conveniently located atabout the centre of the north side of the engine room, andis fully equipped with the usual switches, indicating in-struments, circuit-breakers, and lighting arresters ofWeston and Westinghouse make. The boiler room is located in the west end of the build-ing. The floor of the room is level with the ground, andabout 8 feet below that of the engine room. The boilerequipment consists of one battery of two Babcock &Wilcox water-tube boilers, of 350 horse-power are also three horizontal tubular boilers, which atpresent are employed as water tanks, but which are main-tained in good condition, so that in an emergency theycould be used for supplying steam.
