Edward Webb, senior member of the prominent English seed firm, Edward Webb & Sons, of Stourbridge, died in Paris, France, January 21, in his sixty- ninth year. Mr. Webb did some im- portant work in the improvement of garden and field seeds. J. H. Everett & Son, for many years in the wholesale field seed business at 29 West Alabama street, Atlanta, Ga., have taken possession of the adjoining store, doubling their space to make room for the new business they have recently started under the name of the Everett Seed Co. The Everett Seed Co. will deal in garden and field seeds at wholesale and retail. It looks as though those who wish-seeds kept out of the parcel post will have a continual fight on their hands. The pub- lic does not understand the seedsmen's view and even the postmaster general has recommended that seeds be "let ; What the seedsmen wanted, when the law was under consideration, was to be permitted to stay out. Perhaps some of them now are changing their mindsf Howard Nash has purchased the in- terest of the Ransom family, being about eighty-six per cent of the stock, in the Champaign Seed Co., Champaign, 111. The company has been established about two years and was incorporated last year with capital stock of $10,000. The com- pany deals in farm seeds in a wholesale and retail way.
