A splendid view of the historic Badshahi Mosque is illuminated with lights to mark the Shab-e-Barat in Lahore. Shab-e-barat is also known as the Mid-Shaban, a festival which is celebrated by seeking forgiveness and repenting. Mid-Sha'ban is the 15th day of the eighth month (shaaban) of the Islamic lunar calendar. The historic Badshahi Mosque of the Great Moghul Emperor, Aurangzeb was built as the most famous monument, where the river Ravi, which now lies a few miles away touched the ramparts of the Fort and the Mosque.
