Mud plaster and the original ceiling to a ground floor room in the SE block of Pueblo Bonito multi-storey Anasazi great house, Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. The viga (roof beam) and poles have been dated to c AD1079. Pueblo Bonito is the largest and best known of the Great Houses in Chaco Canyon, considered the type site for the Classic Bonito Phase (AD1020-1120) of Chacoan Culture. Ponderosa pine beams brought from distances of up to 30 miles away, supported local cottonwood poles & split juniper which formed a base for the adobe floor of the room above.
