Zeiglcr at supper before the meet- ing at the City Club, January 4. Mr. Kift was particular to impress on those asked that his selection was due to chance rather than to any especial merit Crossed wires caused an alarming fire at M. J. Callahan's flower shop, 3924 Market street, Sunday night, January 2. Mr. and Mrs. Callahan were with difift- culty rescued from the flames. The sec- ond and third floors sustained most of the damage. It was possible to carry on business in the store Monday morn- ing, January 3, although the telephone was out of commission. The loss is cov- ered by insurance. Mr. Callahan is a hustler" and will quickly overcome this temporary setback. The Robert Craig Co. sent twenty cases of stock for growing on to Robert Craig, San Juan, Porto Rico, Decem- ber 29. Samuel F. Lilley assisted Rupert Kicnle during the holidays. Two greenhouses arc being erected on the Cheltenham roadside on the property of E. T. Stotesbury, at Chest- nut Hill. Uavid G. Grillbortzer, of "Washington, D. C, has been with us. President Alfred M. Campbell is con- sidering reviving the sports committee, with the purpose of starting a Florists' Club baseball league for next summer.
