Gurney's sugarbird (Promerops gurneyi) perching by a flower. This bird feeds on nectar, although it will also take insects and spiders. Its long, narrow bill is used to reach the nectar produced by plants to attract pollinating insects. This sugarbird is restricted to a small population in southern Africa, closely associated with the presence of protea plants. Photographed in Giant's Castle Game Reserve, Natal Drakensberg Park, South Africa.
