Here are the dimensions of thetwo boats: Sappho^ keel; tons; feetarea. /^/w^r, center-board; tons; area. 1868 was notable as being the yearwhen the club established itself at Clifton,S. I., and for the first time started itsannual regatta from there on June 18,1868. There were four sloops and eightschooners started, and the affair failedfrom lack of wind, and next day only twosloops, the Gussie and White JVi^fg, cameto the line with the schooners Mai^f-ic, Idlcr^Silvic and Rcwibler. As has generally hap-pened on days when postponed races havebeen sailed, there was a cracking breeze. the White Wing was disabled, and theMagic took the schooner prize.
