A picture clock, end of the 19th century. A depiction of the Battle of Montereau on 18 February 1814. Napoleon is personally aiming a cannon at the troops of the Crown Prince of Württemberg, who are just crossing a bridge. There is a church tower in the background with a brass edged cutout for the clock dial. Oil on canvas (relined, restored). There is a brass clock movement with an enamelled dial in a case on the back, with chimes. There are two additional separate working chiming movements. Includes winding key.
