White Fleshed Varieties Diameter inches Cow Horn or Long White 2J/2 to 3 Grown largely for stock feed, but also desirable for garden planting. Tops large, upstanding, with deeply cut leaves. Roots 8 to IS inches long, tapering, often crooked; white with light green top; flesh tender, and of mild flavor. Pomeranian, or Large White Globe 4 to 6 Used principally for stock feed. Tops large, with cut leaves. Roots large, globe-shaped, slightly flattened, weigh 4 to 8 pounds; white throughout, smooth, firm, somewhat coarse. Purple Top Milan 3 to 4 An extra early sort for home garden and truckers. Tops small, strap leaved. Roots very flat, white with purple top; flesh clear white, fine grained, sweet and tender. Can also be used for forcing. PURPLE TOP STRAP LEAVED 3 to 5 A medium early, very productive variety, used extensively for home and market garden planting. Tops medium small, upright and compact. Roots flat, purple-red at the top. white below; flesh white, hue grained and tender.
