Bald eagles are not mature until they are 5 years old. They don't have a white head and tale until they reach maturity.


Juvenile and immature bald eagles do not have a white head or tail. Their feathers are brown and white. They develop the white head and tail at about 5 years of age. There is no difference in the plumage of male and female eagles.
