Frank McFarland was born in Charles-town, Massachusetts (now a part of Bos-ton), June 13, 1841, and died in Collins-ville, September 4, 1917. He was educatedin the public schools of Charlestown, hisparents moving to Providence, Rhode Is-land, about the time the lads school yearswere completed. In Providence he learnedthe blacksmiths trade, but while yet anapprentice he entered the employ of theAxe Factory at East Douglas, Worcestercounty, Massachusetts.
