Seeds Maryland Baltimore Catalogs; Vegetables Maryland Baltimore Catalogs; Flowers Maryland Baltimore Catalogs; Fruit Maryland Baltimore Catalogs; Grasses Maryland Baltimore Catalogs; Gardening Maryland Baltimore Equipment and supplies Catalogs; Nurseries (Horticulture) Maryland Baltimore Catalogs. BLACK BEAUTY EGS PLANT. Boigiano'. "American Beauty" 12. The skin and flesh of "The American Beauty" Beet are both a deep rich blood crimson color. It matures just after the Eclipse, has a most beautiful form being a little deeper than round, medium in size, generally about three inches in diameter, has a remarkably smooth surface and a small tap-root. It is exceedingly tender and delici- ously sweet. The very dark, attractive leaves are small and are borne on slender stems which take up but little of the root. It is particularly delicious on account of its tender- ness and it is entirely free from flesh of a stringy orwoodycharacter. In ourextensive trials last spring and summer we found "The American Beauty" Beet surpassed every lead- ing variety in color, shape, form, size of leaves and root, tenderness and sweetness of flesh and was only a few days behind the Eclipse in ma- turing. As a Home Garden Beet"American Beauty"stands supreme. We unreservedly recommend every one of our customers to give it a trial this spring and summer, for if planted in the summer it will keep in perfect condition during the entire winter, loosing none of its tenderness, sweet- ness, orrich color during the entire winter.
