Laid on for the troops are activities such as bingo, dances, TV movies and shows. From 1955 the 160th Signal Group provided fixed station communications throughout Germany under the US 7th (Seventh) Army during the Post-war era from a headquarters at Panzer Kaserne (PK), in Böblingen (Boeblingen) near Stuttgart, Germany. Colonel Marcus W Heskett was the commanding officer of the 160th and its Battalions. It was responsible for building, maintaining and operating the communications and providing a messaging service. Panzer Kaserne and nearby Patch Barracks were constructed for the German Army. The 7th Army was the US army created during World War II. It was reactivated by the United States European Command (EUCOM) in Germany in 1950 and assigned the command and ground service forces of US Army Europe (USAREUR). Patch Barracks, Stuttgart-Vaihingen (renamed from the German Kurmärker Kaserne in 1952) was the HQ of The US 7th Army. This image is from an old American amateur Kodak colour transparency. It will look very soft if used at too large a size – a vintage 1950s photograph.
