Mediterranean Fried egg Jellyfish, Cotylorhiza tuberculata, from Maltese waters.


This species can be encountered throughout the Mediterranean Sea, in aggregations of several individuals. They feed on zooplankton and reproduce asexually. The name obviously derives form their appearance. They are absolutely harmless to humans.
