Striae

Striae, also called stretch marks, are streaks or narrow furrows in the skin that often results from a stretching of the skin, as seen on the stomach after pregnancy. Here the striae are seen on the patient's back. Purplish striae are one of the classic findings in hyperadrenocorticism, also called Cushing's syndrome. Stretch marks can also occur from prolonged use of oral or topical corticosteroids.
