Abingdon-on-Thames claims to be the oldest town in England. And the River Thames runs through its heart. Here we its weir, just upstream of its medieval bridge, clogged at the river's meeting point with the Abbey Spring tributary. This weir adjoins Abingdon Lock. And it's a misty summer morning.
