. Pernet-Ducher*s New Rose SouvENiH DE Claudius Fernet TWO J«EW HYBRID-TEA ROSES MRS. WILLIAM C. EOAN (Howard & Smith, 1922) Named in honor of the wife and life companion of Mr. Wil- liam C. Egan, whose love for horticulture is well known and appreciated by all of the amateurs who read the American Gar- dening Magazines, and whose unique and beautiful garden, "Egandale," on the shore of Lake Michigan, has very appro- priately been called a "Lake Shore Paradise" by the editor of the American Rose Annual. The christening of this beautiful Rose was one of the many memorable features at a birthday dinner given in Mr. Egan's honor by the Garden Club, of Illinois, in April, 1921. New American HYBRiD-TEA Rose Mrs. William C. Egan Rose Mrs. William C. Egan is an extremely vigorous, healthy grower, and which places it in a class with such well known popular varieties as Caroline Testout, Radiance, Red Radiance, Lady Ursula, Lady Alice Stanley, Rose Marie and similar strong healthy growers that has made these varieties popu- lar both as individual plants in the small garden as well as for mass effect in large plantings, its long pointed buds are of abso- lutely perfect form, measuring fully 2§ inches in length, and de- velop into flowers of good shape. In color it is a two tone pink, the reverse of the petals of a particularly pleasing shade of soft light pink, the interior deep flesh color with a golden line at the base of the petals. These flowers are supported on long, stiff stems, lasting in good condition either on the plant or when cut for an unusu- ally long time, and are produced most freely and continuously throughout the season, a record of 6 plants in the garden of Mr. Egan planted last spring showing a total of 298 blooms, or an average of practically 50 blooms per plant, a record which, under like conditions, has been equalled only by a few other varieties. Price. Strong two-year-old California grown plant
