St Mary's church, disused for decades and with the settlement which it once served long since disappeared, was slowly brought back to life substantially through the efforts of the late Bob Davey, for which he was appointed MBE, in the course of which it was discovered to have wall medieval wall painting of international importance. The church is now looked after by volunteer trustees who tell visitors the church's story. Visitors' donations go towards its upkeep.
