Italy, Tivoli - Hadrian's Villa (Villa Adriana) - Maritime Theater. Hadrian's Villa was the luxurious retreat of Emperor Hadrian in Tibur (today: Tivoli). It was built in the 2nd century AD as a home for the emperor and his court. The so-called Maritime Theater is a round pool with an island in the middle, and an exquisite apartment on it. The villa was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
