I., 1607 :— The Jurors say upon their oath that five geldings of Sir John Gilberdknight and Sir William Forth Knight in Buxhall aforesaid some time since weretaken by certain John Margerim and William Sowgate doing damage within theprecincts of this manor and therefore within the park of the lord of thismanor in Buxhall aforesaid were impounded until a certain John Marshe servantof the said John Gilberd against the laws of this Kingdom of England, aboutthe twentieth day of this instant month of September, broke into the poundaforesaid, and those geldings from thence then took and carried away. The said John Gilberd and WiUiam Forth or either of them making nosatisfaction as yet for the damage aforesaid. The mill stands on the same site on which a mill is recorded as standing inthe Domesday Survey, and its lofty wings may continuously be seen sweeping. The Parish, Descriptive and Historic 19 through the air with stately .majesty. There is an entry in the Court Rolls ofthe time of Edward VI. as to the Mill and the property immediately adjoining :— 8 APRIL 5 EDWARD VJ. At this court the lord as well to the fulfilling and performing of certainbargains and sales between him and a certain William Bert before made as incertain Indentures between them made bearing date the xv day of February nowlast past it doth appear, as of other covenants and agreements between them hadcovenanted and agreed before divers worthy persons in the aforesaid Indentures byname specified, granted out of his hands to the aforesaid William Berte all that hiswindmill with the houses and ponds to the said mill adjoining with all the rightsappurtenances and equipments to the said
