I have, however, used this methodseveral times on very frail roots, and cemented over it a gold capcrown. In the present case, after the amalgam had become hard andthe end and sides had been polished, a gold crown was fitted overall just up to the margin of the gum, and in close contact with theend of the band and amalgam. This crown was loose enough toadmit of its sliding on and off, though with just enough friction tohold it in place when at rest. This gold crown was then placed inposition, the plate also inserted, and hard wax used to firmly jointhe two in the mouth. They were then removed and soldered. 6.^2 MECHANICAL DENTISTRY.
