Teas of inferior and old Onion Seed are on the market to-day that can be bought for fifteen cents per pound, but it -would be dear at any price. It is impossible to compete In price with this so-called "Clieap Seed," which is sold below the actual cost of production of first-class fresh seed. To grow large, full size Onions, four to five pounds black seed should be sown to the acre. To raise Pickling Onions and Onion Sets, fifty to sixty pounds of black seed are required per acre, and for this purpose the best varieties are the Yellow Danvers, Yellow Strassburg, Red Wethersfield, Philadelphia White Silverskin and White Portugal.
