In many of the better stores they told me that never in their ex- perience had they done such a business as on this occasion. This is really the first flower day of the season, yet it is one that, until a short time ago, was not taken much notice of in our city. This only goes to show what may be ex- pected of our established flower days in the future. The time is past for thinking of flow- ers as nonessential. The business of everyone in the trade from this time on is to think only of supplying the de- mand which is sure to come. The pub- lie will have flowers. They demanded them when conditions were such that even those of us who deal in them could not have blamed them had they econo- mized and passed flowers up.
