Mechanics for young America; how to build boats, water motors, wind mills, searchlight, electric burglar alarm, ice boat ..etc.; the directions are plain and completeReprinted from Popular mechanics . six inches and at each angle; make theslits two inches apart around the the kite is pasted and dry, paint thebuttons, hair, eyes, hands, feet, etc., as youdesire. See Fig. 3. Arrange the bellyband and tail band and attach the kitestring in the same manner as in the ordi-nary coffin-shaped kite. The lady kite is made on the sameprinciple as the boy kite. The frame maybe made exactly as the boy kite and thendressed with tissue paper to represent agirl, or it may be made as in Fig. 4. Re-member the dotted lines represent the. strings or thread, and the other lines indi-cate the kite sticks. Be careful with yourmeasurements so that each side of the kitecorresponds exactly and is well see that every point where the sticksintersect is firmly tacked and bound. To cover the kite, first paste togetherpieces of tissue paper of different color tosuit your taste. The paste should be madeof flour and water and boiled. Make theseams or overlaps not quite 1-3 of an inchwide. Lay the paper on the floor, usingweights to hold it down, and place theframe of the kite uponit. Then cut out thepaper around theframe, leaving an edgeof % inch. Dont for-get to make a slit in theedge every 6 or 7 inchesand at each the head theslits are two inchesapart, as in the case ofthe boy kite. After thekite is dry, paint thepaper as your fancydictates.
