John ^^ilson, Jr., was born on the homefarm in Canada and received his education inthe public schools of his home district. OilJuly 18, 1859, he came to the United States,locating at old Brockway, then known asHardscrabble, Michigan. There he followedfarming for a time, then purchased a farm of80 acres at Fremont, Michigan, where he wasa pioneer and lived for a period of 31 disposed of this farm to his son James onSeptember 18, 1892, and moved to his presentfarm, located in section 26, Mount Foresttownship. Bay County, which he had purchasedthe previous year. At that time there was notanother settler in the neighborhood, and thecountry was undeveloped.
