Gold funerary offering, Chimu Imperial Epoch, (1300 ADâ1532 AD). This was part of the funerary offering of a great lord buried in the mud brick clay of Chan Chan, the capital city of the Chimu kingdom. It expresses all the great splendour of the power enjoyed by the ruler who wore it, together with his symbolic relationship with the sun. This artefact is on display in the Larco Museum, a privately owned museum of pre-Columbian art, located in the Pueblo Libre District of Lima, Peru. It showcases one of the world's largest collections of pre-Columbian art including Moche, Nazca, Chimu, and Inca pieces.
