Annual report of the Board of Control of the New York Agricultural Experiment Station . in the vacuum and its rela-tion to the milk flow is shown in Graph III taken from Bulletin control animals were milked continuously at inches of milk were taken from the pail at every milking from eachof the six animals and the cell content determined. The vacuum gauge was tested out during the experiment to makesure that it was working properly and a careful watch was kepton the animals to see whether the increased vacuum caused uddertroubles of any sort. Not only was there no demonstrable effectof the change of vacuum upon the flow of milk but also there wereno objectionable local effects upon the cows. It is true that at theclose of the milking process with the higher vacuum there was somedifference of opinion as to the presence of a slight congestion atthe extremity of the teats of Ruth F. Whatever abnormalitymay have been present passed away within a few minutes leavingno objectionable after-effects. 166 Report of the Department of Bacteriology of the. New York Agricultural Experiment Station. 167 The records of the cell counts made on these six cows are givenin Table XIV and they are shown graphically in Graph IV.
