Dark kitchen of traditional tea house at Ghar Gompa, above Tsarang in Mustang, Nepal

The remote Upper Mustang region, formerly the Kingdom of Lo, is now part of Nepal but retains a strongly Tibetan culture. The operator of the traditional tea house at Ghar Gompa also serves as a caretaker for the adjoining monastery and, since the monks are often not in residence, must spend long periods here alone.
