The coal is deliv-ered in wagons, weighed on a platform scale between thestation and coal house and the wagon is drawn on a pivotedplatform, just to the left of the end of the coal house, asshown in Fig. 2. By the use of a hand wheel and gearingthe coal is dumped from the wagon into a hopper, whichfeeds the run of mine coal to a crusher. This consists oftwo cast iron toothed cylinders revolving in opposite direc-tions on parallel shafts. The coal, which is there reducedto a fairly uniform size, is either conveyed back into the coalhouse or is carried into the bin in the boiler room for coal is fed from the bin to the stokers through chutes by opening slide doors operated by iron ro<la extendingdown to within a few feet of the floor. The coal house has acapacity of 4,000 tons. A conveyor collects the ashes from beneath the boilersand deposits the
