His holiness, Pope Francis, held an evening vigil with hundreds of thousands of faithful youth participants on Saturday July 30, at the Campus Misericordiae, Brzegi, Poland as part of World Youth Day celebrations. The events are meant to be deeds of mercy. World Youth Day was initiated by St. John Paul II in 1997 and meant to be a series of gatherings, celebrating the community of the Catholic Church and its faith.
