Acraman crater, satellite image. The Acraman meteor impact crater is situated in the Gawler Ranges of South Australia and is thought to have been formed around 570 million years ago, during the Ediacaran Period. It is deeply eroded so its original size can only be estimated, however its location is marked by Lake Acraman, a circular ephemeral (temporary) playa lake measuring about 20 kilometres in diameter.
