The purification of potable water by means of ozoneformed the subject of an interesting lecture deliveredby Dr. G. Erlwein, of Berlin, at the forty-third annualmeeting of the German association of specialists ingas and water technology at Zurich, the essentialpoints of which are given below. The lecturer first discussed the practicability of theuse of ozone in the purification of various kinds ofwater (surface and underground water) in municipalor central water-works, and the advantage of thismethod over the various proposed methods of purify-ing water by chemical means. He then gave a de-scription, illustrated by diagrams and models, of Sie-mens ozone works at Paderborn and Wiesbaden
