Claxton drainage pump, Norfolk Broads.
Claxton pumping station raises water from Claxton marsh into the River Yare, the river being one of the three rivers of the Norfolk Broads navigation. All drainage pumps on the Norfolk Broads these days are powered by electricity, having been preceded by diesel pumps which themselves succeeded the drainage windmills which were once a working part of the landscape and many of which remain, in varying states of repair.
