Shape.—The pithouses were roughly "D''-shaped, with the flat side to the south. Greatest inside diameter: Pithouse A, meters; Pithouse B, meters. Walls.—Excavated into gravelly earth. A veneer of slabs laid in abun- dant mortar reinforced the north and east walls of Pithouse A (fig. 10) and pebble veneer may have strengthened the north wall of Pithouse B.
