THE LEADING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION OF THE STATE-UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON The University of Washington was founded in 1861. It is supi^orted mainly by legislative appropriation. Theschools are liberalarts, engineering, mining, law, pharmacy, forestry, highway construction, household science andjournalism. About 40 to 45 per cent of the students are women.
