Jacob Hiram Straw was born at Ansonville, ClearfieldCounty, Pa., in 1871, a son of Arthur Bell and Sarah M. Straw, 839 BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES members of the Baptist Church. His mother having died whenhe was two years old, he was cared for by his maternal grand-parents, Jacob and Sarah Arnold, of New Millport, Pa., whowere Lutherans. He was received as a member, January 3,1886, by baptism. He took a course at Lock Haven State Nor-mal School, and taught school. In 1895, he entered college atGettysburg, and in 1899, the seminary. Upon his graduation,1902, he went to our Muhlenberg Mission, Africa, returning in1904. He served as pastor, the North Baltimore, Ohio, charge,1905-1907; Trenton, N. J., 1907-1909. He returned to Africa in. REV. J. H. STRAW 1909, and labored faithfully until his death, April 20, 1913. Hewas married to Miss Nellie Cashman, Gettysburg, now Mrs. S. Shultz, of Summerhill, Pa. One daughter, Ruth, also sur-vives. Charles L. Streamer. Parents, Christian Streamer, nativeof Prussia, and Elizabeth Knoephler, York, Pa. Born Williams-burg, Pa., December 22, 1828. Attended public schools; learnedthe trade of a tinner, and was a first-class mechanic; followedthe business at Marklesburg, Pa., and Williamsburg, Pa. Studied840 BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES for the ministry, with Father P. Sahm, pastor at Indiana, to the Gospel Ministry by Alleghany Synod, 1858. Served the following charges: Smicksburg, 1858-1869 and1885-1897 (twenty-three years in all) ; Martinsburg, Pa., 1869-1875; Blairsville, 1875-1878; West Sunbury,
