Grace Chisholm Young. Portrait of Grace Chisholm Young (1868-1944), British mathematician, and one of her children. She studied mathematics at Cambridge at a very male-dominated time, and then went to study at Gottingen in Germany. There, she was awarded the first ever doctorate given to a woman in any subject in Germany. She had six children. Her published works mainly dealt with set theory and solid geometry.
