His education was acquired at the BrooklynPolytechnic Institute, at New York University and at the TheologicalSemuiary at New Brmiswick, where he graduated in 1865. Ursinus Col-lege conferred the D. D. degree upon him in 1889 and he received thesame degree from Rutgers College m 1016. Dr. Brett is a member of the Reformed Church Clerical AssociationNew York City, of the Presbyterian Clerical Association of New YorkCity and of the Gamma Sigma Clerical Association of Hudson Coimty.
