A week's bright and mild weather has increased the cuts of flowers con- siderably and eased up prices on every- thing except carnations, which are still lidding for the highest prices of the winter. Plenty of everything will prob- ably be the report from now on. The local growers have allowed val- ley to be short during the last week, but the supply will be all right from now on. Roses are fine and are get- ting more plentiful every day. Beau- ties are still scarce, but prices had to come down, as even a few Beauties could not be moved at fancy prices. The Lenten season is a good deal of a bugaboo among florists, or was at one time, but now the use of flowers is so common that one hardly would know it was here if it were not that social functions are abandoned for a time. The Pittsburgh Cut Flower Co. is busy getting ready to move into the new home, which is almost ready. Ed McCallum, of the McCallum Co., is on the sick-list at present. Just a little too much work; a few days' rest will probably put him on his feet again. Jos. Haube, of Charleroi, Pa., is run- ning a guessing contest. He offers $5 in gold to the person making the near- est guess to the number of peas in a quart jar. Every purchaser of seed is entitled to a guess. Randolph & McClements had one of the most elaborate weddings of the sea- son February 16, the Thaw wedding. The colors were American Beauty and gold and about 2,500 Beauties were used. The bride's table was a hollow square 20x30 feet. In the center was a flowing fountain, surrounded by American Beauties. Directly in front of the kneeling stool were large doors leading out to the porte-cochere. This was cleared, floored and decorated to represent an Italian sunken garden, and the effect was fine.
