Pvt. J. E. Gibbon of the Army Signal Corps took this photograph (numbered B) from the lower slopes of Cote 240, one kilometer north of Exermont, Ardennes. The photograph shows the view looking west (Azimuth 270 degrees) towards Fleville, Ardennes, which is partially concealed by woods at the foot of the slope. This terrain was captured by the 1st Division, 3rd Army Corps, and the 82nd Division, 5th Army Corps of the during the Argonne-Meuse operations on October 9th, 1918. This photograph was taken in December 1918.
