Mormyrus i> profile; snout short, J as long as postorbital part of head, projecting alictle beyond the mouth ; teeth very small, feebly notched, 7 in upper MORMYRUS. 131 jaw, 6 or 8 in lower; eye large, in anterior half of the head, nearly aslong as the snout, 1^ to 1| times interorbital width. Dorsal 64-65,originating above base of ventral, twice as far from base of caudal asfrom end of snout, 4-4| times as long as anal.
